TSRA Commends Senator Robert Nichols (R-Jacksonville) for Filing Senate Bill 16

Austin, TX – The Texas State Rifle Association (TSRA), the state’s largest firearms and shooting sports organization, released the following statement about Senate Bill 16, legislation filed by Senator Robert Nichols (R-Jacksonville) and considered a priority by Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick.

“The Texas State Rifle Association would like to extend our gratitude and support to Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick and Senator Robert Nichols (R-Jacksonville). We also commend Senator Joan Huffman’s (R-Houston) leadership as Chair of the Senate State Affairs Committee and as co-author of SB 16. Ahead of the 85th Texas Legislature, the TSRA is looking forward to their leadership to pass Senate Bill 16. Senate Bill 16 is long overdue and would help reduce fees associated with a License to Carry,” said Alice G. Tripp, TSRA Legislative Director.

“The TSRA has always been focused on the fewest restrictions on law-abiding gun owners, and that will continue to be our mission during the 85th Texas Legislature. No law-abiding Texan should be priced out of getting there License to Carry. Senate Bill 16 addresses this issue, and TSRA looks forward to supporting it and working towards its passage,” said Tripp.

Founded in 1919, the Texas State Rifle Association is the largest firearms and shooting sports organization in Texas with nearly 40,000 members. TSRA is also the largest, award-winning state affiliate of the National Rifle Association and is sanctioned by the Civilian Marksmanship Program. As a part of its public education efforts, the association produces a full-color bimonthly publication, TSRA Sportsman, which updates members on current news, hunter education programs, shooting sports competitions, and important issues effecting their Second Amendment rights. The TSRA also hosts an annual meeting that features exciting fund-raising auctions, informative speakers, exhibitors, and other events.
