The Texas State Rifle Association stands by your rights.

You may own a gun or you may not. Regardless, if you believe, as a law abiding Texan, you have a right to bear arms, the Texas State Rifle Association is for you.

Since 1919, we've served the people of Texas by supporting such issues as the lawful preservation of shooting sports, conservation of natural resources, wildlife management, and the maintenance of law and order at the state and local level.

By joining the TSRA, you help preserve the Second Amendment and, ultimately, your right to bear arms.

We speak up for you

As the only full-time organization supporting the Second Amendment and Texas Constitution in Austin, the TSRA is unique. The TSRA has the most experienced civil rights (gun rights) legislative team in Texas and our presence in the capital works for you.

In past legislative years, we have defeated every anti-gun bill introduced to the Texas legislature. From the Red River to the Rio Grande, no group does more for Texas firearm supporters than the TSRA. TSRA passed firearm preemption legislation that prohibits cities and counties from approving regulations restricting your gun rights, or prohibit discharging of fire arms (hunting) on un-incorporated land in rural counties. TSRA also passed hunter rights legislation prohibiting hunter harassment and brought lawsuits against cities that have violated the Texas Preemption Law.

TSRA grades and publishes the position of state candidates for political office on gun rights. The Texas State Rifle Association/Political Action Committee (TSRA/PAC) supports state and federal pro Second Amendment candidates. TSRA rallies support for our position statewide. We have the TSRA/PAC Legislative E-mail Alerts, this web site, affiliated hunting and shooting clubs, and the official journal to alert members to state and local issues.
